Self-Care

Self-care is probably one of the most common things I talk to my clients about. I believe it is one of the biggest factors in staying mentally healthy. If we are not taking care of ourselves, we are most likely burnt out, resentful, angry, sad, and probably a whole host of other things (physical ailments definitely included).

I hear from many clients that they "don't have time" for self-care. Maybe they are mothers, college-students, or just work a lot of hours during the week. However, what I always explain to them is that if they don't make time for themselves, they are missing out on a beautiful part of life. There is something very special that happens when one takes care of themself. It builds confidence, trust, and happiness. It also grows health (mental and physical).

What is self-care you ask? Self-care is anything that falls under the category of taking care of yourself. Some of these include: eating a good meal, saying no to things you don't want to do. Resting when you're tired. Getting yourself something nice. Making yourself a priority. The possibilities are truly endless. You just have to think about what feels good for you and implement it as much as possible.

Here are some tips for self-care

  1. Check in with yourself throughout the day. Ask yourself what you need. Water? To use the restroom? A 5 minutes rest? The simple act of checking in is self-care.

  2. Understand that the act of self-care often allows you to be able to give the other parts of your life more attention since your "battery" is more charged.

  3. Self-care is crucial for wellness!

I challenge you to brainstorm what self-care is to you. Then implement at least 3-5 things a day! <3
